PROFESSOR T fans are getting a treat as the hit ITV series is back for a third season.
The popular series centres around a university professor who has OCD, but also a gift for crime-solving.
Who stars in Professor T?
Ben Miller as Professor T
Ben Miller takes an the lead role of Professor T, who is a criminology lecturer (aka Jasper Tempest) who is drawn into the world of real-life crime by former pupil DI Lisa Donckers.
Actor Ben is also known for playing DI Richard Poole at Death in Paradise.
You may also recognise him from Netflix period drama, Bridgerton.
He is also known for playing James Lester in the ITV science-fiction series Primeval.
Emma Naomi as Lisa Donckers
Actress Emma Naomi plays Lisa Donckers, who is a police detective and former pupil of Professor T.
Elsewhere, the talented star is best known for playing Alice Mondrich in Bridgerton which she co-starred in alongside Ben.
She also appeared in The Trial of Christine Keeler as Ann.
Emma trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has starred in stage productions including The Comedy of Errors, Medea and The Mystery Plays.
Barney White as Detective Sergeant Dan Winters
Barney White is an actor known for his role in investigative thriller Social Suicide.
In Professor T he plays Lisa Donckers police sidekick.
Actor Barney’s other acting credits include BBC drama Taboo, and the Jaclyn Bethany’s short film Indigo Valley in 2017.
Andy Gathergood as Detective Inspector Paul Rabbit
Actor Andy Gathergood has appeared in films including Saul Dibb’s Journey’s End, The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society and The Death of Stalin.
He has also had roles in Clint Eastwood‘s Hereafter, and The Three Musketeers, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
On TV, you might have spotted him in Hatfields & McCoys, The Salisbury Poisonings, Britannia, and Criminal Justice.
Frances De La Tour as Adelaide Tempest
Frances de la Tour is a legendary actress who is best known for her role as Miss Ruth Jones in the 70s show Rising Damp from 1974 until 1978.
The actress’ other TV work includes Emma Porlock in the Dennis Potter’s Cold Lazarus (1996), Headmistress Margaret Baron in BBC sitcom Big School and Violet Crosby in Vicious.
Harry Potter fans will also recognise her from playing Olympe Maxime in The Goblet of Fire.
The rest of the cast includes:
- Juliet Stevenson as Dr Helena Goldberg. Legendary actress Juliet makes her debut on Professor T for the third season. She has previously appeared in series such as Riviera, The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Village.
- Sarah Woodward as Ingrid Snares. The actress has starred in Queens of Mystery and has appeared in New Blood and Endeavour.
- Douglas Reith as The Dean. The actor is known for his portrayal of Lord Merton in Downton Abbey. He also appeared in 2006 film The Queen as Lord Airlie.
What is Professor T about?

Following season 2’s explosive finale, the third series sees Professor T locked up in prison.
He has been banged up after he tried to defend his old flame DCI Christina Brand.
In the new series, his career is on the line and he must make a big decision.
The Professor struggles in prison as the dirty and noisy environment plays havoc with his OCD.
However, his brilliant criminal mind is soon be put to good use by some of the criminals he finds himself surrounded by.
Where was Professor T filmed?
Professor T is set in Cambridge, and it also filmed there.
The famous university and its grounds are used as a backdrop to the drama.
This includes Jesus College, where most of the outside shots were filmed.
Actor Ben actually studied at Cambridge University.
Speaking about returning there to film Professor T he told iNews: “It was really, really weird and here’s the weirdest thing of all: the house that Professor T grew up in is a house I know really well.
“It’s part of Jesus College and it’s where one of my good friends from university lived, who I wrote my first comedy sketches with. He lived in the house in a room on the ground floor, which is the room we filmed outside.
“Wow, it was properly strange playing scenes going through the door there, when 30 years ago I was doing the same thing.
How can I watch Professor T?
The third season of Professor T kicks off TONIGHT (March 27, 2024) at 9pm.
The six-part series continues every Wednesday night at 9pm on ITV, concluding on May 1, 2024.
