I have 5 cats and 2 dogs but my tips keep my home from stinking – it works even though one pup gets into the litter
AN animal lover has revealed their go-to methods for maintaining a fresh scent in their home.
After bringing five cats and two dogs into their living arrangement, they shared a few cleaning hacks that keep their place from getting a bad odor.
Reddit user Capacious handbag took to the platform to ask for assistance with “keeping an immaculate house” with five pets.
Her inquiry was answered by none other than another Reddit user Livefast_dieawesome who has five cats and two dogs of their own.
They first advised installing a few HEPAs, also known as high-efficiency particulate air [filter], in many areas of their home.
They have it in their bedroom, living room, kitchen, and laundry room, where most of their pets’ litter boxes are.
Due to having multiple floors in their house, they made sure to have a litter area on each one.
They also run robot vacuum Roombas three times a week to catch any hair.
The buy can be purchased on Amazon for as little as $200.
The Reddit user added there is an old 2015 model on one floor and a newer model on another.
Once a week, they go around with a Dyson vacuum for one carpeted room and the stair runner, especially in the corner where fur tends to collect itself.
There are two standard litter boxes inside of a semi-obscured “litter cabinet” that the savvy Reddit user converted to out of an old pantry closet.
Last year, they invested in a Litter Robot, which is an automatic, self-cleaning litter box for cats.
One robot is good for the five cats in their house and the pets adopted it fairly quickly, which made litter management in their entire house much easier.
The Litter Robot can be set at different intervals after a cat uses it.
Some of the times include three, five, and fifteen-minute intervals.
“If you have a dog who’s likely to come by and be like ‘ooh treats,’ you can set it to three minutes before anyone gets in there,” they wrote.
Because of how quickly it deodorizes and cleans, the scent doesn’t linger in the house.
It’s not always a perfect match and they admitted that there is one small dog that occasionally gets into the litter.
“I just make it a point to scoop those out every morning and evening, solids go right into the Litter Robot,” they explained.
Because of how beneficial the automatic litter box was, they fully intend to purchase a second one for the other floor of the house in the room with multiple generic ones.
Live Fast_Die Awesome admitted that they’re unsure if they will say goodbye to traditional litter boxes altogether, but incorporating it made a “notable difference.”
