6 people slashed inside of Queens school: NYPD

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Six people were slashed inside a charter school in Queens, police said.

Authorities responded to a call of an assault at 12:43 p.m. at 89-25 161 St. Upon arrival, police discovered six individuals with minor injuries, according to the NYPD.

Emergency services were called, and all six individuals were taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

In a video posted to Citizen App, more than 20 uniformed NYPD officers stood in front of the school. An individual wearing a red tracksuit had his hands behind his back, and at least three NYPD cars and an FDNY truck were parked on the street, the video showed.

Five people were taken into police custody, police said. The ages of the individuals remain unclear.

An investigation remained ongoing, authorities said.
