Hyderabad: Heinrich Klaasen had a night to remember at the Uppal stadium on Wednesday during an IPL 2024 game versus Mumbai Indians. In what turned out to be a record-breaking run-fest, Klaasen smashed a breathtaking 80* off 34 balls to give SRH the perfect finish. His heroics helped SRH post a record 277 for three in 20 overs. But it was not Heinrich who stole the show, instead it was his daughter, Raya. Donning the SRH jersey and with a flag in hand, Raya rooted for his father. Asked to bat first, SRH posted a mammoth 277/3 – highest in the history of Indian Premier League. They surpassed Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
In reply, Mumbai Indians stayed in the chase till the 18th over before managing 246/5 in 20 overs to lose their second match on the trot in the ongoing edition. It was also the first time, 500 runs were scored in a game.
“That was insane. The ball was really pinging around. Not until we bowled, it got a bit too close for comfort. They found a boundary whenever they needed it, but we finished it off well. (On Abhishek Sharma) Really impressive, in IPL you play with a lot of pressure but he plays with great freedom,” Pat Cummins said at the post-match presentation.
SRH, who in the third spot after two games, would take on Gujarat Titans in their next game on March 31.
