CT man charged with possession of child pornography following cyber tip
A 29-year-old Fairfield man has been charged with allegedly having child pornography in his possession, police said.
After a months-long investigation that stemmed from a cyber tip to the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, officers on Wednesday arrested Dontrell Dayshawn Rodriguez and charged him with possession of child pornography, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Following the cyber tip, police said detectives from the department’s Investigative Division executed search and seizure warrants on internet service providers and file hosting services between December 2023 and March 2024 and identified Rodriguez as a suspect, police said.
The department collaborated with state police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in building their case against Rodriguez. They obtained arrest and search warrants for Rodriguez, his electronic devices and his home in Fairfield, police said.
Rodriguez was taken into custody on Wednesday, when investigators also took his electronic devices as “additional evidence.”
The department said Rodriguez’s arrest “underscores our unwavering commitment to combating child exploitation.”
“This arrest represents a significant milestone in law enforcement’s efforts to combat child exploitation,” said Fairfield Sgt. Michael Stahl in a statement released Thursday. “The Fairfield Police Department remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society.”
Rodriguez is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Bridgeport on Thursday, police said.
