Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma to Open For India at T20 World Cup 2024? Mohammed Kaif’s BOLD Prediction Raises Speculation
Delhi: We are not too far away from the T20 World Cup. Once the IPL gets over, the T20 WC starts in the next 10 days. So, there is not a big window there. Teams have to present their squads next month to the ICC. While there is much speculation over the Indian team, former cricketer Mohammed Kaif’s bold prediction is gaining eyeballs. Kaif, who is part of the IPL 2024 broadcast, said on-air that Virat Kohli could actually open the batting for India. Kaif said this on Star Sports Hindi.
So, can that happen? If it does, Kohli opens with captain Rohit Sharma.
The question is – then what happens to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill?
No one can deny there is no confirmation on Kohli getting a spot in the T20 scheme of things. There is massive speculation on it as reports suggest his selection would depend on his performance in the ongoing IPL.
Meanwhile, not only did Kohli, who scored 77 off 49 balls, fire with the bat, but he also entertained the fans after his magic with the bat with his dance moves. He seemed to be in a good headspace which is extremely important for a cricketer who is playing all three formats.
“It’s been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy). People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport – achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it’s the memories you create. Rahul bhai in the change room says the same nowadays. When you play, play your heart out because you’re going to miss these time,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation after his 49-ball 77.
