You’ll grow way more strawberries with my simple chicken gardening tip – it’ll stop microorganisms from munching
A FRUIT grower has shared his super hack to improve his strawberry yields.
Adopt it in your garden this summer and you can expect a bumper crop.
The secret is to keep the luscious berries off the ground and away from the hungry pests.
Jordan, who posts as Mind & Soil (@mindandsoil) shared his tip top tip to stop nuisance microorganisms from munching away.
He swears if you follow his simple tip you will get way more “juicy red berries this summer.”
It’s a challenge worth taking up because even the most inept gardener can see this one through.
Everyone loves a plump, juicy strawberry. But bugs and pests like them too.
So you have to find a way of protecting them.
STRAWBERRY SEASON
- The problems start when the strawberries start to flower
- As the flowers get pollinated and grow into berries, they get heavy and droop
- As they turn red and fall into the soil, they become a magnet for strawberry-loving pests and microorganisms
It is an irritation but our gardening expert has come up with a solution.
STRAWBERRY SAVIOR
The secret is to keep the plump berries off the soil.
- Grab some chicken wire and wire cutters
- Cut the wire into narrow strips
- Bend the sides to create a little table
- As the strawberries grow, position the wire table underneath to support them
“This will lift them a few inches off the ground and will result in no more strawberries getting munched on before you get to them,” he said.
Commenters had a lot to say about his garden hack.
“Lifts them up so birds can eat off a table,” joked one person.
“Put the strawberry plant in a hanging pot. In the Netherlands we grow a lot of strawberries off the ground,” wrote a Dutch viewer.

This person’s response was typical of many more.
