Beyoncé Enlisted One of Her Kids To Help With Her New ‘Cowboy Carter’ Album
Happy new Beyoncé music day to all who celebrate! Queen Bey just dropped her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter album, and it features a very special guest star: her 6-year-old daughter Rumi!
On the song “Protector,” Rumi makes her music debut, per PEOPLE. “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?” she says at the beginning of the track in the cutest little voice. Seriously, this moment gives us major heart eyes.
The song is about a mother’s love for her children, poignant for the mother of 3. “And I will lead you down that road if you lose your way,” Beyoncé croons in the track. “Born to be a protector. Even though I know someday you’re gonna shine on you own. I will be your projector.” At the end of the beautiful song, kids can be heard talking in the background.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” star shares Rumi, Sir, 6, and Blue Ivy, 12, with husband Jay-Z. Her eldest daughter made her album debut on Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled album on a track called “Blue.” Now, the pre-teen attends events with her mom and performed with her on the Renaissance Tour.
But although they are both on their mom’s albums, Rumi and Blue are very different, too. In an interview with Oprah Daily in July 2022, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles shared a tidbit about one of their differences: their fashion choices.
“It’s funny because Rumi loves fashion. She picks out her own clothes,” she said. “We recently went to Disneyland, and she put on her Mickey Mouse shorts. Then she wanted to put on a sparkly printed top, which had the same colors. It actually looked really cute.”
Knowles added, “But her sister came in, and Blue was like, ‘My mom would be mad because she’s doing too much.’ And Rumi said, ‘This is my style.’ She’s 5. I was impressed.”
With such a fierce superstar for a mom, it’s no wonder Beyoncé’s daughters are so independent!
