NBC host under fire for 'profoundly irresponsible' reporting on Trump's judicial attacks
NBC host Kristen Welker is in hot water after a report in which she told viewers that Donald Trump's attacks against the daughter of a judge in the former president's criminal case are a "reminder" that this is a "deeply divided nation."
This isn't the first time Welker has been criticized for similar news framings. Less than a month ago, Welker was called out by numerous people, including former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, for her coverage of Donald Trump's 2020 election subversion efforts.
Journalist Aaron Rupar flagged the clip from Sunday, saying, "Kristen Welker describes Trump's attacks on a judge's family and other unhinged rhetoric as 'a reminder that we are covering this election against the backdrop of a deeply divided nation.'"

This led to award-winning Historian Dr. Joanne Freeman suggesting Welker's angle was not the responsible way to handle the report.
"At this point, framing this in a 'politics as normal' framework is profoundly irresponsible," she wrote on Sunday.
Jim Manley, a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Senate including serving 12 years with Senator Kennedy, also chimed in on the drama.
"NBC has got some real problems on their hands," he wrote on his social media profile.
Singer Bill Madden stressed the importance of the media's current Trump conundrum.
"The fourth estate is having its 1930s Germany moment: At a time in our history when America is under attack from a deranged lunatic, Kristen Welker continues to pander in bothsidesism," he said Sunday. "It is the failure of the free press that'll be the death of democracy."
Biden delegate Victor Shi appeared to be stunned by the move.
" just said Donald Trump attacking Judge Merchan’s daughter is 'a reminder we are covering this election against the backdrop of a deeply divided nation,'" he wrote Sunday. "More both-sidesism. They keep failing our democracy."
