Schenectady teen saves choking senior citizen

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Beck Dodd, a Schenectady High School student, was honored by the Town of Niskayuna after his heroic actions saved the life of Rose Knightly. The senior citizen was choking during lunch at the Niskayuna Senior Center when Dodd jumped into action to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

“I turned around and saw her like doing the obvious signs that she was choking and they were all around her,” said Dodd.

“Beck just flew through all of us old ladies and grabbed me and popped that thing right out of my throat,” said Knightly.

The Town of Niskayuna presented Dodd with a resolution honoring his heroic actions. To express her gratitude, Knightly made a painting for him to say thank you.
