Vizag: It is no secret that Rishabh Pant considers MS Dhoni to be his mentor like many others. In the past, Pant has often been seen having long chats after an IPL match with Dhoni. Pant idolises Dhoni and there is no two ways to it. So when the Capitals took on the Super Kings in their new home venue, eyes were on the two wicketkeepers and they did not disappoint. In fact, Pant also did a signature move of Dhoni where he tried to run-out a batter with a no-look back flick – somethings Dhoni does. Here is the clip of what transpired.
Meanwhile, Pant was unfortunately slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 12 lakhs. He was fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their match against CSK. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences.
“We’ve learnt from our mistake. He’s been working hard from last two weeks (Shaw). We thought it’s time to give him a chance and he flourished. It will depend on match to match, but if Mukesh can bowl at the death it’ll be great. As a cricketer I’ve to give my 100 percent. Took some time initially as I haven’t played much cricket in the last 1.5 years. This is something I’ve depended my life on. Always had the self-belief that whatever happens, it’s important to come back to the ground,” Pant said after the win.
