I’m a celebrity hairstylist and my favorite products will give you JLo’s locks – another fave prevents hair thinning
SAY farewell to flyaways and fine hair with celebrity hairstylist Marco Maranghello’s top hair-taming tricks.
It’s not sorcery, just some of his favorite serums that will help protect hair from damage, breakage, and bald spots that come with the aging process.
JENNY WITH THE LOCKS
Marco Maranghello, who’s worked with JLo, swears by Milbon wet shine gel cream, $39, that will give you a Jenny from the Block look.
“This is great for really nice, shiny hair, like when Jennifer Lopez pulled her hair back,” he told The U.S. Sun.
“You just put a little bit at the top and on the ends and it’s like a little genie on your hair and everything will stay impeccable.
“I used this for Fashion Week on all the models last September and everything turned out great because it all stays in place.”
SHINE ON ME
To keep everything in perfect photoshoot place, he also recommends Rene Furterer Style Holding Gel, $29.
“You just apply and activate it by air drying whether that’s with a brush or not, and it just gives an amazing coat that makes the hair look thicker,” he said.
“This is great for anyone who likes to use a clear gel.”
For a supreme shine that will have your strands ready for the spotlight, Shu Uemura’s volumizing mousse, $42, gives a “beautiful coat.”
“This will really give you that fullness,” he said.
At the first sign of thinning, before we see any bald spots, that’s when we need to attack.

He is also a fan of this organic thickening mousse which can be used on a daily basis as it keeps things nice and soft.
Think sculpted, sleek, and shiny.
AGE LESS, GROW MORE
Maranghello’s mission to save your strands from premature balding starts with Alterna’s Caviar Anti-Aging Multiplying Volume Styling Mousse, $33.
“At the first sign of thinning, before we see any bald spots, that’s when we need to attack,” he said.
“We need to use the right products to keep what we have and to give strength to the roots.”
Saving 1,300 strands a month, the organic product is ideal for combatting hairy – or rather hairless – situations that arise as we age.
“This will really help to regrow the hair, it’s an essential mousse to have and can be used daily.”
FLIPPING OUT
When it comes to oil all he has to say is ooh-laa-laa – especially to the Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil, $59, that stimulates the scalp – and can be used on more than just hair.
“Anything that is oily, from time to time is good to incorporate, even on your skin.
“Before working with clients I use alcohol on my hands but it dries me up a bit,” he said.
“I like to use just a couple of drops and it keeps my hands nice and soft.”
Because nothing and no one – including the weather – is allowed to mess with your mane, the Oribe Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray, $44, keeps flyaways at bay.
“It doesn’t get crunchy or stuffy, which I really love, so it’s really nice if you like to flip your hair,” he said.
“It makes your hair fluffy and silky, so it’s perfect for spring and summer.”
“This is also a great mist for shine and it prevents any humidity from ruining your hair.”

STAYING POWER
For extra stay-proof strands, the super affordable L’Oreal selnet strong hold hairspray is a “classic.”
“Even when you touch it or put your glasses on, your hair doesn’t move or get crunchy. Humidity doesn’t affect it either,” he said.
Sounds like it might have saved Taylor Swift’s hair from going back to what she called “factory settings” on a recent tour stop.
“I use it on photoshoots because I am constantly changing hair looks,” Maranghello said.
“These products are my really, really good friends.”
