City of Edmond kicks off 'fee' for EV charging stations

EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) - The City of Edmond is now assisting EV operators with charging stations alongside a new fee structure that helps cover operations and maintenance starting April 1.

According to City of Edmond leaders, the 10 City-owned Level 2 charging stations, users will be charged 25 cents per kilowatt hour, and at the City’s lone Level 3 charging station, users will be charged 35 cents per kilowatt hour. A Level 2 station can charge an EV from 0 percent to fully charged in 4-to-6 hours. A Level 3 station can charge an EV from 0 percent to fully charged in 30 minutes.

Level 2 charging stations are located at Service Blake Soccer Complex, Mitch Park, the City First building, Edmond Center Court, the Edmond Railyard, the Edmond Hilton Garden Inn, and the intersection of East 5th Street and South Broadway. The City-owned Level 3 charging station can be found at Festival Marketplace.

The City-owned charging stations were installed using grant funding in partnership with the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG), according to the the City of Edmond.
