Countryfile’s Matt Baker reveals he still needs injections to manage debilitating pain after freak accident on stage
MATT Baker has revealed he still needs injections after suffering a freak accident on stage.
The beloved Countryfile presenter was left in debilitating pain when he suffered a wall during rehearsals for a panto.
Matt, 46, has now revealed he’s unable to bend over following the injury.
He said: “No, I can’t now [bend].
“I’ve injured my back. I can’t tell you how upsetting it is as an ex-gymnast, not to be able to bend forward.”
The former One Show host explained to Gabby Logan on the Mid Point podcast: “I did my back in. I was doing a panto.
“I was doing Goldilocks and the Three Bears and we were practising with the stunt chairs, and the chair wasn’t set correctly and bang!
“I went down on my coccyx and it turns out I slipped a disc in my back.”
This affects the back and puts pressure on nerve endings and the spinal cord, which can be very painful.
Meanwhile, Matt’s TV return has been confirmed – and there’s just weeks until he’s back on screens.
The star is back on Channel 4 with a brand new series called Our Dream Farm.
Launching on Saturday, April 6th at 8pm, the competitive show will find a tenant for the National Trust Farm in the North East.
Matt will oversee the eight part series as farmers go head-to-had.
