CT teen charged after fight leads to stabbing during alleged car theft
A East Hartford teen is facing multiple charges after an alleged fight over a car theft led to a stabbing in Middletown last December, police said.
On Dec. 17, 2023, officers responded to Russet Lane just after 2 a.m. for an assault that allegedly occurred when the victim approached a person stealing the tires and wheels off of his parked vehicle, according to the Middletown Police Department.
The victim told police he allegedly saw someone stealing from his vehicle and went outside to confront them. According to police, the confrontation resulted in a physical fight.
“During the fight, the victim was stabbed several times in the torso area,” police said. He was transported to an area hospital and has since recovered from his injuries, according to police.
An investigation by detectives from the Major Investigations Unit led to the arrest of 18-year-old Aneudi Sifuentes of East Hartford, police said.
Sifuentes was taken into custody on an arrest warrant on Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, second-degree criminal trover and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal trover, according to police.
Sifuentes was being held on a $200,000 surety bond and will appear in court on Thursday, police said.
The case remains under investigation, and additional arrests are anticipated, according to police.
