The Apprentice thrown into chaos as food task goes horribly wrong – and Lord Sugar is NOT impressed
THE Apprentice is thrown into chaos tonight after a food task goes horribly wrong – and it could lead to a multiple-firing in the boardroom.
With seven contestants remaining, the group face the boot back home by Lord Sugar after flunking the food-based task ahead of the highly-anticipated interviews week.
This week, the contestants are tasked with creating a new vegan alternative to cheese to pitch to major supermarket retailers in the hopes of securing a big-money deal.
But the unusual recipes and bland brand names that the hopefuls come up with lead to disaster, and more than one of them could face the axe.
It’s all in the lead up to the interview task, where Lord Sugar and his team have for many years only kept behind four or five candidates.
With seven candidates currently still in the running, it could mean a mass exodus from the boardroom tonight to whittle down the numbers.
Unfortunately, it’s not looking good for Foluso Falade in a first look at tonight’s action.
She’s seen struggling to come up with a brand name for her product – after being placed in a team of one, with her own personal designer on hand to help with her cheese.
Rubbing her temples and tutting, she tells her baffled product designer: “What about The Free? Sounds a bit disgusting. I’m just trying to think of names that make sense but also are fun.”
She shakes her head and puts it in her hands as she tries again: “The Great Alternative? Um, no.”
It comes hot on the heels of another double dumping last week – following a shopping channel challenge which saw the teams forced to flog products on screen.
The team who made the most money in an allotted segment of time would win the prize of the week.
But bedlam broke loose on both sets, and Raj and Maura were left scrambling over each other to try to flog their products as quickly as possible.
He fired both the candidates, blaming Raj and Maura’s screaming for putting viewers off products – and even receiving some complaints.
After the loss, mortgage broker Raj headed to The Apprentice‘s infamous La Cabana Café.
Speaking about the greasy spoon establishment, Raj told The Sun: “The tea was disgusting, it was freezing cold. I don’t want to say too much but it was the worst cafe I’ve been to in my life.
“It really adds to the pain, you come out of the boardroom and you’ve got to discuss it [the failure] but at least if you’ve got a nice mocha or latte it would give you a bit of a lift.”
“The tea… one of the things they don’t tell you because they’ve got to record it and they were like ‘Raj, can you just take a sip’ and I’m looking at them like ‘I don’t want to’ but you had to take a sip so they could see people drinking.
“I’m going to assume nobody was drinking the tea and coffee there or the water, that was the hardest part of going there, drinking the tea.
“It was horrific, you could even see the milk and this little cloud floating on the top, I’m sure it was made about four weeks ago.”
The Apprentice airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
