Five popular Android phones receive major free upgrade that magically transforms your photos – see the full list
MORE Android users can get picture perfect thanks to a free upgrade coming to five popular smartphone devices.
You’ve probably seen Google‘s latest advert for its magic eraser feature on the Pixel that allows people to remove unwanted objects from photos.
Samsung has its own version on Galaxy phones too.
Well, now another major Android brand has jumped on the bandwagon.
OnePlus is releasing an update to five handsets this month with the feature included, 9to5Google reports.
It uses clever generative AI to fill in anything you want to remove from an image, such as a hand blocking the view.
All you need to do is tap the bit you wish to have edited and AI will do the hard work.
Most smartphone makers have gone big on AI features this year using it to do things like live translation on calls and even writing messages for you, as we saw with the Samsung Galaxy S24.
OnePlus has been low on the AI front until now.
But extra photo options could be a real benefit to the latest OnePlus 12.
In our recent review, we found that the device takes some decent snaps with plenty of detail and colour but felt it lacked richness compared to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
OnePlus says it plans to introduce more AI features later in the year.
There’s no confirmation what they will be exactly yet.
But in China, where OnePlus is based, we’ve already heard about tools to summarise calls and articles for you, so that could be a hint of what’s to come in other countries soon.
For now, the latest AI eraser tool will be available to the following five models:
- OnePlus 12
- OnePlus 12R
- OnePlus Open
- OnePlus 11
- OnePlus Nord CE 4
