I used a $13 beauty buy to clear up my chicken skin – it’s dermatologist-approved, just rub it up and down your arms
A DERMATOLOGIST has shared a budget-friendly product that gets rid of bumpy chicken skin almost immediately.
She gushed about an affordable skincare product that clears up that stubborn body issue and leaves smooth skin in its place.
Dermatologist Dr. Abigail Waldman (@abby.waldmanmd) shares ways to take care of your skin without breaking the bank.
The Mohs surgeon provides beauty tips that range from cheap beauty finds to natural remedies for skin-related issues.
If you suffer from chicken skin, then she revealed in an Instagram Reel a must-have ingredient you need to put on your body.
Keratosis pilaris, also known as “chicken skin,” is a common skin condition that causes patches of rough bumps to appear on the arms, thighs, cheeks, and butt area.
Experts aren’t completely sure what causes it, but many due to excess production of keratin in the skin.
It typically doesn’t itch or hurt, but the raised white bumps can be annoying to see, especially if they turn red.
Dr. Waldman filmed herself wearing a pair of bright blue scrubs as she showed the benefits of a water-based serum.
“To the girl that told me to use glycolic acid to get rid of keratosis pilaris on the arms…I love you,” the subtitle read.
She poured a liquid into the palms of her hands and rubbed it all over where her arms were exposed.
“You’ve been promoted. You are now one of my elite employees,” the background audio said.
There are very few products she recommends but there is one that takes the cake.
Look no further than The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner, $13, for a problem-solving solution.
According to the product description, it should be used daily and “smooths skin texture, evens tone, and enhances luminosity.”
Dr. Waldman used that specific item in the video, but you don’t have to.
The key ingredient overall is the glycolic acid.
There are other natural ways to treat keratosis pilaris at home.
You can try exfoliating your skin gently, slathering on a ton of moisturizer to keep the area hydrated, or applying a product called a keratolytic after exfoliating.
