Drunk driver sentenced for fatally hitting pedestrian in 2023
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A drunk driver has been sentenced for hitting and killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run on Broadway in Buffalo in 2023, the Erie County District Attorney's Office said Thursday.
Rinaldo Pearson, 48 and of Buffalo, was sentenced to 3-6 years in prison. Pearson hit and killed 31-year-old Amber Young of Depew on the 1500 block of Broadway in the early-morning hours of Feb. 25, 2023. Young was taken to ECMC, where she later died. Pearson did not report the incident to police and was found a short time later.
Pearson pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree vehicular manslaughter on Sep. 7, 2023. As part of his sentence, his driver's license was also revoked.
