Mum appears in court over son’s death after two-year-old ‘murdered by grandparents’ at their home
A MUM has appeared in court over the death of her toddler son after he was allegedly murdered by her parents.
Ethan Ives Griffiths was rushed to hospital after suffering head injuries at Michael and Kerry Ives’ home in Deeside, North Wales.
The couple, aged 45 and 46, have been charged with his murder and remanded into custody.
Ethan’s mum Shannon Ives, 27, has also been charged following the tragedy in August 2021.
She appeared at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court today accused of causing or allowing Ethan to suffer serious physical harm.
Ives is also charged with causing the assault, ill treatment, neglect or abandonment of a child to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
She was released on conditional bail ahead of a hearing at Mold Crown Court on May 17.
Michael and Kerry Ives will appeared on the same date alongside their daughter.
The horror unfolded on August 14, 2021, after little Ethan was found injured at the home on Kingsley Road.
He was taken to Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital but tragically died shortly after from a brain injury.
A provisional trial set to last three weeks has been scheduled for November 4 this year.
