One dead, one hospitalized after shooting at Salem park

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man is dead and another is injured after a shooting at Wallace Marine Park in Salem, authorities said.

According to Salem Police, officers responded to reports of a shooting incident just after 3 a.m. Thursday and when they arrived they found one man dead and another injured at the scene.

The injured man was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The incident is still under investigation and the park is currently closed, but police are warning the public to not trust speculative information online and to watch their social media for updates.

“We understand there is much speculative information on social media concerning the incident,” said public information officer Angela Hedrick, “We ask the public to follow our communications platforms for details concerning this investigation.”

No arrests have been made at this time, officials said.
