MASTERCHEF fans were claimed a contestant’s fish starter was “still swimming” when it was served up to judges tonight.

Ambitious amateur chef Ben bit off more than he could chew with his menu and fell just short.

He was eliminated after failing to heed hosts’ John Torode and Gregg Wallace‘s advice to do less.

His tuna appetiser was far too rare for viewers palates and the portion size was much too big too.

One viewer wrote on X: “The fish is still swimming.”

Another agreed, saying: “Tuna that was still swimming and venison that was still grazing. I know that fuel prices are bonkers, but surely they can afford to turn the hob up for a bit longer than that.”

A third said: “Tuna so raw it was having a conversation with the judges.”

A fourth complained: “That tuna dish was more like a main.”

Another simply posted: “Raw fish.”

Thought the dish looked the part on the plate, the judges agreed after cutting into the steak, calling it “far too raw”.

They also described the miso as being “over-seasoned”.

Gregg wasn’t impressed wither, saying: “I always thought Ben was attempting too much.

“And that means he simply can’t focus on the really important things like the cooking of his tuna.”

After eliminating Ben, John said: “Thank you very much for your hard work, thanks for your ambition. It’s been great to meet you.”

Reflecting on his MasterChef experience, Ben said he had “a lot of regret”.

He added: “I’m still going to cook complicated food but I won’t be trying it in an hour and 15 minutes.”
