NO matter how hard you clean and scrub, sometimes your grout will never go back to the bright white it once was.

That’s what one Mrs Hinch fan discovered after her cleaning blunder left her bathroom grout looking yellow.

She took to the popular Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks to ask for help in removing the yellow stains.

She wrote in the group: “Please can anyone help? I run a very clean house, but this absolutely drains me.

“Does anyone have any tips on getting grout white again? I suspect it’s bleach that has yellowed it, so am trying not to use it as much. But does anyone have any tied and tested products?”

It turns out the cleaning fans had the perfect fix for her problem, and it doesn’t require any scrubbing at all.

Since the yellowing on the grout was likely caused by bleach it would be almost impossible to clean off without remove the top layer of grout.

That’s why loads of savvy cleaners suggested the homeowner should try a white grout pen instead.

“I had the same , just used a white grout pen to freshen it up as it was bleach stained,” one person commented.

A second agreed: “f it’s clean then go over the lines with a grout pen. Dark grey might look good and won’t show marks as quickly.”

The option is pretty budget friendly too, since you can buy a grout pen for as little as £3.95 on Amazon.

The pen works by covering any stains with a fresh layer of waterproof white ink.

The thin pen tip means they’re pretty easy to use too, so you won’t have to spend ages painstakingly filling in gaps.

However, if your grout isn’t stained like the homeowners and instead just needs a good clean, there are a few tips and tricks you can try out.

One suggested using white vinegar, they wrote: “Just pour on tiles and leave for half an hour and they will sparkle.”

And someone else suggested making use of something you already have in your bathroom – toothpaste.

“Whitening toothpaste and hard bristle denture brush,” they replied to the post.

In the same group, another homeowner admitted they had the same problem with dirty grout, but people instead suggested using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to get it looking as good as new.

“I love to use both hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to clean my bathroom grout, it’s the best combination if you’re looking for an effortless way. You need to try it, it completely blew me away,” one wrote.

Another commented: “Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and a soft scrub brush. Make a paste in the grout lines, then scrub with the brush and wipe clean.”

Hydrogen peroxide helps to get rid of mould and can be applied directly to the grout.

Once applied, let it sit and then scrub and rinse.
