Hardik Pandya BLAMES Rohit Sharma For Mumbai Indians Loss in IPL 2024 Match vs Rajasthan Royals?
Jaipur: Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. The most successful team in the history of the tournament slumped to their fifth loss of the season in merely eight matches. Following the nine-wicket thumping against the Royals, MI captain Hardik Pandya reckoned losing wickets early set back the side.
At the post-match presentation, Hardik claimed that MI put themselves in trouble early. He was certainly speaking about the MI openers who perished early – Rohit scored six while Ishan Kishan could not even open his account. Hardik also went on to lavish praise on Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera.
“We put ourselves in trouble early on. The way Tilak and Nehal batted – that was fantastic. I don’t think that when we lost a couple of wickets early we thought we would even reach 180. We didn’t finish well and that’s why we were 10-15 runs short,” Pandya said.
Hardik also admitted that MI bowlers gave too much width to the RR batters inside the powerplay.
“We had to keep it within the stumps (while bowling). Early on in the powerplay, we gave a lot of width and I don’t think it was our best day in the field as well. Overall, we did not put the right foot on the park and eventually they outplayed us. After the game, it’s not the right time to go to the players, everyone is professional, they know their roles,” he added.
With three wins in eight games, MI find themselves in the seventh position on the points table.
