Tokyo stocks end higher over Wall Street gains

TOKYO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher on Tuesday tracking overnight gains in the U.S. stock market despite the cautious market sentiments.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, went up by 113.55 points, or 0.30 percent, from Monday to close the day at 37,552.16.

The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 3.77 points, or 0.14 percent, higher at 2,666.2
