Report: Diego Simeone is driving Atletico Madrid’s interest in Tottenham player

Tutto Juve have now talked up the chances of Giovani Lo Celso joining Atletico Madrid this summer, with the outlet suggesting that the Tottenham man might be keen on making the switch to the Spanish capital.

It seems inevitable that Lo Celso’s spell at Spurs will come to an end this summer, with the only question being where the Argentine will end up.

Over the last few days, various Spanish outlets have suggested that Real Betis are keen on re-signing the Tottenham man and that the midfielder is in contact with his former club’s directors over a summer switch (Estadio Deportivo).

Last week, Fichajes.net reported that Atletico could also make a move for the 28-year-old, with the La Liga giants allegedly viewing the midfielder as a good fit for their system.

Now, Tutto Juve have also backed up Atletico’s interest in Lo Celso and they suggest that it is Diego Simeone who is driving the club’s pursuit of the player.

It is said that the Argentine coach has ‘expressed his admiration’ for the Spurs star and told his higher-ups to bring his compatriot to the Metropolitano Stadium.

The report adds that the La Liga side would be willing to put an offer of €20m (£17m) on the table and that Lo Celso might view the move as an ‘interesting opportunity to start over under a coach who appreciates him’.

It seems quite clear that Lo Celso is La Liga-bound this summer. Given the success that the Argentine has had in Spain in the past and his relatively low price, a few Spanish clubs will be looking at his availability as a great market opportunity.
