Meet S Ramdas – The 103-Year-Old CSK Superfan Who Wants To Meet MS Dhoni At Chepauk
New Delhi: There are fans and there are superfans. And there are a few in Chennai who go beyond definitions. One such person is 103-year-old S Ramdas, who is an avid cricket lover and follows five-time defending champions Chennai Super Kings very closely. Since the start of IPL in 2008, Ramdas, who is believed to be battling diabetes, never missed a single IPL game featuring CSK.
But who is this S Ramdas?
Ramdas was born in 1920 in Udumalaipettai in Coimbatore. He finished his P.U.C and was with the British Military in the Army in the unit called Air-right precaution. He was recruited in Trichy. In that period also, he played cricket. “I am 103 Senior Valiban. I am not a old man. I am senior youth, I like cricket and I watch cricket,” said superfan Ramdas in a video shared by the franchise on social media.
Clad in a CSK jersey, Ramdas sounded enthusiastic as he spoke of MS Dhoni, who stepped down from CSK captaincy just before this season. His son, who was sitting beside him, also showed him pictures of Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina, to which Ramdas very clearly identified.
“We got the awareness of the game because of his enthusiasm only. Plus in out friend circle, he used to be our bowler, our umpire. And since the IPL has started he has been following regularly. We used to think that he cannot sit and watch the whole game. But he sits enthusiastically and follows every game. He is total cricket lover,” said Ramdas’ son.

When asked whether he can travel to Delhi to watch CSK play, Ramdas said he will. “Can you go and watch the match if it happens in Delhi?, question his son. Ramdas replied, “I will walk and go.”
Ramdas was also asked if he wants to go and see MS Dhoni, to which he replied, “Yes. Whenever he (Dhoni) has time and when he calls, we should go. We should go according to his time.”
