Ruari Nominated for PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year

It is a case of history repeating itself for the 21 goal Dubliner who was also selected as a nominee for a PFA Scotland Division One Award last season when he was with Queen of the South.

Ruari said: “It is brilliant news when I heard that I was a nominee earlier this week. It is a real honour to be down to the shortlist of four from all the players in the Championship. It is a real compliment to be chosen by people from within your own profession.”

“I have tried my best this season and I hope people who have been watching me at the club feel that I have repaid the faith put into me. Hopefully, the supporters will have seen that I have tried my best in every game.”

“I have scored a good few goals and whilst that is my job it is not always an easy thing to do. It has been a tough season for Queen’s Park at times and hopefully I have produced quality when I can.”

Ruari continued: “The recognition from the players across the division proves again that it was the right decision to come here. I remember saying last summer that coming to Queen’s Park felt right for me and that has been the case. It has worked out brilliantly as can be seen by my selection for the PFA Scotland team and now my short-listing.”

“It is a real honour for me, but it is also an honour for all the players here. There is no Award for anyone without the help of their team-mates. I would not have been able to score the goals I have without the help of the likes of Dom Thomas or Cillian Sheridan since he joined us this year.”

“They have given me a platform to score.”

Ruari will be up against Brian Graham of Partick Thistle, Lewis Vaughan of Raith Rovers and Louis Moult of Dundee United with the winner being announced on Sunday, 5 May, at the PFA Scotland Awards Dinner at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.
