Div 1 – Play-off
Dundee City A (2259) 2 – 2 (1970) Dundee City B
What a match! It was never going to be a walk in the park for our “A” team against their team mates, but this was more dramatic than they wanted! Our “B” team playrd out of their skins to take the fight to their elite brothers in arms to get this fighting draw and almost scupper Dundee City A team’s mission to get their title back! A little birdy told me, Wessex Some Stars A were routing for our “B” team! It has yet to be confirmed by the 4NCL organisers (Fair-Play checks), but under the tie-break rules, Dundee City A team should sneak through by the seat of their pants to make the final again (TBC)!
All credit to all players from both sides, but I think it`s only right to give our “B” team players a special mention after that performance. Stephen Hogg (Brd 1); Iain Sneddon (Brd 2); Andre Babin (Brd 3) & Theodoros Vasiliadis (Brd 4), you put in everything and had nothing left at the end, you can ask no more than that, and on another day…
Having said that, Dundee City A team are once again back where they rightfully belong, in the division one final play-off (TBC)! Well, done, Richard Polaczek IM (Brd 1); Ian McDonald (Brd 2); Rishi Vijayakumar (Brd 3) & Ed Spencer (Brd 4)!
Div – 2 Play-off
Oxford 2 (1902) 3½ – ½ (1845) Dundee City C
Congratulations to Oxford 2 on an outstanding performance on the night, to beat our Dundee City C team. I feel given the matches, the score line was a bit flattering, but none the less deserved! Our players have had an incredible season 9 campaign, and while they will be disappointed not to reach the final, they have been nothing short of amazing this season. Well, done Dariusz Kosznik (Brd 1); Joshua Crofts (Brd 2); Richard Kynoch (Brd 3) & Gary Weir (Brd 4)! I would also like to give praise and credit to their stand-in captain Graham Mooney (he has played as well), who has been an inspiration to all players. Thank you to Alan Borwell and Alastair Dawson, who have also played a couple of matches for our “C” team.
Good luck to Dundee City A against Wessex Some Stars A in the final (yet to be officially confirmed).
