On Camera: Speeding Biker Rams E-Rickshaw In UP’s Prayagraj; Disturbing CCTV Clip Emerges

Uttar Pradesh Accident: A disturbing CCTV clip is doing the rounds on social media sites, showing a speeding motorcyclist colliding head-on with an e-rickshaw as the three-wheeler makes a sudden U-turn on a bridge Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

According to the police, the mishap, which was captured on CCTV, occurred at around 12:40 PM on Saturday afternoon when the e-rickshaw driver made a sudden halt in the middle of a busy road and proceeds to make a U-turn.

Due to e-rickshaw making a sudden turn in the middle of the road, a speeding biker coming from the opposite direction is unable to control his two-wheeler and crashes into the e-rickshaw, the CCTV clip shows.

The motorcycle overturns due to the impact of the crash while the rider, later identified as 21-year-old Akash Singh, takes a hard fall on the road, sustaining grievous injuries in the collision. The e-rickshaw driver is sen fleeing from the scene after the mishap, the video shows.

Meanwhile, the injured rider, Akash Singh, was rushed to a nearby hospital by commuters where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police said the victim, an employee at a private company, was heading home when the accident took place on Saturday afternoon.

A senior police official said that based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a case has been registered against the e-rickshaw driver under relevant sections of the law, at the Kidganj police station.

Further investigation in the case is underway, the official said.
