04/28/2024: Showers, Few T-Storms on a Warm Sunday
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:
Warmer weather is headed our way after a chillier finish to the work week. With the warmer conditions comes the risk for a few showers and t-storms, some of which are included in today's forecast. Much of the upcoming week ahead will feature high temperatures in the 70s.
We've seen a few showers and isolated downpours traverse the region this morning. We will tap into some sunshine this afternoon as a warm front swings through from the west. You may even notice a bit of humidity later today! Some additional showers and thunderstorms will flare up later this afternoon.
Temperatures will surge thanks to the sunshine, with high temperatures generally reaching the low to mid 70s. Winds, out of the southeast, will be lighter than Saturday.
Clouds will generally stick around overnight, keeping temperatures mild again. Most of us will wake up to temperatures in the 40s Monday morning, just like Sunday morning.
A slow-moving boundary will be draped right over the News10 viewing area, with a large difference in high temperatures expected depending on which side of the front you find yourself on.
This boundary may squeeze out a few spotty light rain showers. Otherwise, cloud cover will decrease during the afternoon. High temperatures push the mid 70s to the southwest, while they struggle to reach the upper 50s up to the northeast.
The same storm that has sparked a multi-day severe weather outbreak in the Central United States will drift towards the Capital Region later Tuesday, but we only expect showers and a few rumbles of thunder to come from this. After a morning rain shower or two Wednesday morning, skies clear out, allowing temperatures to rise back into the 70s.
Thursday looks nothing short of fantastic with temperatures pushing the mid 70s under a mixture of clouds and sun. Temperatures could push 80 on Friday before cloud cover increases later in the day ahead of some showers and cooler conditions on tap for Saturday.
