In Pittsburgh, this vertical parking carousel can fit 42 cars—and offers EV charging for every one

In cities across the country, parking space is often limited. In our car-centric society, that’s a challenge for nearly everyone—but especially for new developments that often need to meet certain parking minimums, and for electric vehicle drivers who need to find a space to plug in their cars. A new parking structure in Pittsburgh’s Strip District aims to solve both of these problems by using an automated carousel design, which fits 42 parking spaces—all of which are EV charging ready—on a footprint the size of six vehicles.
