Amsterdam man arrested in criminal sex act investigation

FLORIDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Amsterdam man was arrested following a criminal sex act investigation after a victim came forward. David Putnam, 73, is charged with first-degree criminal sex act.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, a 19-year-old male victim came forward, alleging forced sexual contact in July 2023. Deputies began a thorough investigation.

Deputies say after collecting forensic evidence, they were granted a search warrant from the Montgomery County Court. Probable cause for an arrest warrant was requested and granted.

On Tuesday, Putnam was found and taken into custody. He was arraigned in Florida Town Court and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bail bond.
