I’m a pet sitter and 2 dogs I watch are a nightmare – I’ll never own those breeds, they ‘bark at absolutely nothing’
A PET sitter revealed the two canine breeds that made her rethink her stance on pets.
The dog walker explained that, from her experience, the mixes were hyperactive and would constantly bark.
Commenting under a Reddit post, Evening_Community781 broke down the reasons why she did not enjoy minding the two types of pooch.
The poster shared that both dogs were a poodle mix, calling them “long-standing clients.”
One dog was a mix of a Golden Retriever and a poodle while the other was a Bernedoodle, which comes from a Bernese Mountain Dog and a poodle.
The Redditor recounted some of her experiences with the two large pets.
“Every time I housesit for them that’s longer than a day I get an anxiety attack,” the social media user said.
They described the dogs as “so neurotic” and said they “will bark at absolutely nothing and just will not listen to any commands.”
“I have to walk them on their leashes in their fully fenced backyard to potty,” the dog sitter explained.
“Otherwise, they’ll continually play keep away, try to eat the trees [and] the bunnies.”
The canine expert described the issues as “general puppy behavior” but pointed out that the size of the dogs made them more difficult to manage.
“In a 100-plus-pound dog, what a nightmare,” they wrote.
In a second post, the Reddit user called the Goldendoodle “stubborn” but labeled the Bernedoodle as “an absolute nightmare.”
The experts at San Diego Goldendoodle broke down the reasons why your pet may be barking excessively.
As well as alerting or warning their owners, dogs often bark to show excitement, boredom, loneliness, or to get attention.
“To minimize excessive barking, you should provide your dog with proper exercise and allow them to socialize with other people and dogs,” the experts advised.
“This will help them feel less frightened whenever they meet new people or dogs.”
Signs your dog could turn dangerous
Dr. Sara Ochoa has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years.
She told The U.S. Sun observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that they might act out.
“A dog that looks tense all over with its fur sticking up or teeth showing is more likely to snap,” she said.
“Staring real hard without blinking could mean trouble too.
“Growling is also a warning the dog is getting mad.”
She said dogs may tuck their tail between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.
“Staying calm and keeping space may help things not to escalate if a dog seems on edge,” she said.
The canine professionals at Central Illinois Doodles also weighed in on the breeds’ behavioral issues.
“Bernedoodles can be prone to separation anxiety due to their affectionate and loving nature,” they explained.
“This issue can manifest as crying, whining, or barking when left alone for extended periods.”
They recommended prioritizing exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization to “prevent destructive behaviors.”
Reddit users also shared their thoughts on the breeds in the comments section.
“Doodles are, I swear, always horribly behaved,” wrote one reader.
“My guess is that it has to do with the fact that they’re trendy dogs and people who get doodles are not always that interested in training or exercising them.”
“Most of the doodles I’ve watched aren’t hyper but they almost all had anxiety and some are quite vocal, drives me nuts!” said another person.
“Doodles, I have met a few that are fine but the majority are just bats**t crazy,” commented a third Redditor.
