Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians Early Exit in IPL 2024 is a Boon For Team India at T20 World Cup
Mumbai: Following the 24-run loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians are not even mathematically in the race for a playoff berth in the ongoing Indian Premier League. But MI out of the playoff race in IPL 2024 is a massive boon for the Indian cricket team that will feature at the T20 World Cup in a few weeks time in the USA and the West Indies. Four Team India players – Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah – who are part of the MI unit would be free after an early exit.
So how will it help Team India at the T20 WC?
Injuries: Hardik and Suryakumar came into IPL 2024 on the back of injuries. An early exit gives them a few extra days to rest and be fresh for the marquee event. Both Hardik and SKY are important members of India’s scheme of things.
Fitness: India captain Rohit Sharma has been playing non-stop cricket since the ODI WC last year. He is 37 and is not getting any younger. A few extra days means, he too gets some much-needed rest ahead of the T20 WC. He will be in charge of the Indian side which also means he is the most important person.
Mental Fatigue: Both Hardik and Rohit have been at the centre of all the controversies in IPL 2024. From Hardik getting booed to Rohit’s form, they would be tired and hence to avoid any kind of mental fatigue in the marquee event, a few extra days of rest is welcome.
Meanwhile, MI, who have played 11 games have won merely three and are hence languishing at the ninth spot in the points table. MI play SRH next at the Wankhede. It is expected to be a humdinger.
