'The Gilded Age' scouting Capital Region locations for season 3

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The HBO series "The Gilded Age" may be returning to the Capital Region to film season 3. Albany County Film Commissioner Deb Goedeke said the production's location managers have been scouting places around the area for the series.

"We are very excited that parts of the Capital Region are being considered again for 'Gilded Age' season 3," Goedeke told NEWS10. "Their location managers are currently scouting buildings, event space, theaters and other space that may fit into their script."

“The Gilded Age” is a series set in 1882, starring Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, and Carrie Coon. The show follows the social war between the old ways and new systems in 1880s New York City.

“The Gilded Age” filmed in Troy for the first season in May 2021. The series filmed in Albany, Troy, and Cohoes in the summer of 2022 for the second season. In December 2023, the series was renewed for a third season.

Goedeke said once the locations are finalized and approved, production will set a shooting schedule which depends on the actor’s availability. Like in previous seasons, "The Gilded Age" will be using local crew members, background actors, hotels and other services.

"Our entire community is ready to welcome the 'Gilded Age' team back to the Capital Region," said Goedeke.

NEWS10 reached out to HBO who said they have no comment about the filming locations at this time. Schenectady County Film Commissioner Donna Pennell said she can't discuss any conversations they've had with "The Gilded Age" production team.

"Of course, we would be delighted to welcome them to Schenectady," said Pennell. "It is exciting for all to see 'The Gilded Age' back in the Capital Region for a third season."
