LASG HOLDS HR SUMMIT, CALLS FOR PROFESSIONALISM, REFORM IN MANAGEMENT
Lagos State Government through the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) recently organised the maiden edition of HR SUMMIT to bring together HR experts to address the challenges and opportunities in human resource management within the State Public Service.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, in his address at the event held in Ikeja, calls for professionalism and reform in Human Resource Management, saying that the HR practitioners in the State Public Service need to develop a mindset shift and reform themselves for professional service delivery.
Agoro, represented by the Director, Service Matters, PSO, Mrs. Adeobopo Oyekan Ismail said that the Summit is a conference that brings together HR professionals, thought leaders and visionaries to share knowledge and insights on the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of work.
Advising the participants, he told them to be open-minded, embrace new ideas and perspectives, even if they challenge their current thinking. He asked them to engage in sessions, not just listen, participate in discussions, ask questions, and share their experiences.
Director-General of OTCI, Toyin Anjous-Admuyiwa said that participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills in different divisions of HR practices which include workforce planning and recruitment, learning and development, human resource measures and accountability, administration, and employee relations.
She, however, disclosed that the transition from Personnel Administration to the Human Resource practice has been successful, with the support of UK AID and the Office of Transformation but there are still knowledge gaps and issues in the implementation of HR.
“By addressing these challenges and leveraging opportunities, the HR Summit aims to improve service delivery and the overall performance of the State Public Service”, she said.
The theme for the maiden edition of the Y2024 HR Summit “Revitalising the Five Divisions of HR – Transforming the A&HR Cadre”, gives room for different paper presentations and lectures on HR development by renowned facilitators from the State public service, followed by
engaging session.
