The Piano in show first as judge breaks cover and bolts for contestant – leaving them in tears
ONE contestant on The Piano is left moved to tears after a show judge makes a bolt to surprise them in a heartwarming show moment.
The Channel 4 show, fronted by Claudia Winkleman, has been wowing audiences once again as it visits train stations across the UK to see an eclectic variety of Brits show off their incredible piano-playing skills to the nation.
In tonight’s episode, the passers-by, and the show’s superstar judges, Mika and Lang Lang, are left particularly moved by one 10-year-old and his out-of-this-world playing abilities,
Viewiers will meet Sum, 10, who arrives at Edinburgh Waverley station desperate to wow the crowd and impress his idol Lang Lang.
Sum brings a long a book by Lang Lang after telling Claudia all about his idol.
During his rendition of Haydn’s Sonata in D major, No. 37, Lang Lang can be seen looking on in awe as he is left mesmerised by the young boy’s talent.
In the Judges’ Room, Mika asks Lang Lang, “Would you take him on as a student?”
“For sure,” Lang Lang replies, “He plays really well.”
He then remarks to co-star Mika that he needs to head down to see him and in an epic show-first breaks cover from their secret room in order to congratulate Sum on his performance.
Sneaking up behind him, Sum is left gasping to be in the presences of his idol as the budding musical superstar cannot hide his smile and enjoyment to have played for Lang Lang.
As Lang Lang remarks on his “beautiful” playing, an overwhelmed Sum declares: “I’m so happy!”
He goes on to say: “You are my favourite pianist, you have inspired me a lot.”
As Lang Lang heads back to his viewing room, Claudia turns to comfort Sum as he is visibly moved by the whole encounter.
Appearing emotional, he insists to the show’s host that it is all “happy tears” as he clutches onto his signed book.
But will his performance be enough for Mika and Lang Lang to send him to the final?
Each episode, the Pianists are hoping to be the lucky one chosen to play in an epic concert performance.
Last year the event was held at London’s Royal Festival Hall were 13 year old Lucy moved the crowd to tears before being declared champion.
This time, the show will move to Manchester with the hopefuls all vying to be crowned the Channel 4 show’s winner.
