It was waist to chest plus on sets at the point this morning and, while bigger, it was shutting down relentlessly along the beach. Wind was WNW at 5-7 kts, which is the way it should continue until late afternoon when it’s expected to swing more SW and pick up. The swell was 1.4 metres and close to dead south with a period of 14 seconds (hence the long lines). The tide hits low at 1005, and then there’s a sub-1 metre swing back to the high at 1630.
You’ll want to enjoy the benign conditions today, because Huey’s throwing the switch to vaudeville tomorrow by the looks of things. The Bureau’s hoisted a gale warning, it’ll be raining and the south swell’s predicted to ramp up into the 3-ish metre range. Oh, and the high for Saturday’s going to be 17 after an overnight low of 12. The chilly nights and showery weather promise to be a feature for the next week…

It is expected to reach the far north coast of New South Wales by Saturday afternoon and a trough of low pressure is forecast to develop over the Tasman Sea.
