2 boys, ages 11 and 13, attacked in possible antisemitic hate crime in Bed-Stuy: sources
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) – An attack on two boys in Brooklyn last Sunday is being investigated as a possible antisemitic hate crime, sources told PIX11 News on Friday.
The boys, ages 11 and 13, were playing on a sidewalk on Franklin Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant when a man on a bike approached them and yelled, "Get off the sidewalk!" sources said.
The man then got off of his bike and pushed the 13-year-old boy to the ground before kicking and punching the 11-year-old boy in the back, according to the NYPD.
The boys were wearing yarmulkes when they were attacked, sources told PIX11 News.
The man fled the scene on his bike going southbound on Franklin Avenue toward Willoughby Avenue, police said.
Police said the suspect is between 18 and 20 years old. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black and white striped shirt, light blue jeans, and white sneakers with stripes.
