Journalist reveals how Postecoglou reacted in dressing room after Man City defeat

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that Ange Postecoglou was not happy with what he saw from his players against Manchester City and did not hold back in the dressing room after the game.

The headlines over the past few days have been dominated by Postecoglou’s scathing words in his post-match press conference following his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning Premier League champions.

While the Australian insisted in the press conference that he was happy with the effort and application of his players throughout the 90 minutes, he admitted that he had been clearly upset by what happened in the lead-up to the game (Football.London).

The Tottenham boss said that the two days before the clash had exposed the fragile foundations that existed both internally and externally at the club but he refused to elaborate on what he meant even when repeatedly pressed on it by journalists.

Postecoglou was angry in the dressing room

Eccleshare has now revealed that Postecoglou was not in a good mood after the final whistle and was quite angry with his players even though he refused to criticise them publicly.

The journalist said on The Athletic FC Podcast: “Jack (Pitt-Brooke) and I have both been told that he was pretty angry at the players after this game, despite the fact that publicly, he didn’t criticise them.

“And we saw in the Chelsea game where they lost 2-0, he was furious at some of the players, screaming at them to play the ball forward, not to go backwards.”

It is clear that Postecoglou was not in a good mood after the loss against City and his frustrations spilled over in the post-match press conference.

Spurs fans should not read too much into what he said as one can understand why the Australian would be angered that the fans were not doing their part to push the team on.
