Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders' mentor, believes the IPL has surpassed international T20I cricket in competitiveness. Having led KKR to two IPL titles, Gambhir highlighted the IPL’s growth in quality. He noted that franchise cricket, especially the IPL, is now tougher than international T20s. KKR faces Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday.
