Report: Club set for third attempt to sign Tottenham player this summer
According to Calciomercato, this summer will be the third time that AC Milan have tried to sign Emerson Royal after failing with moves for the Tottenham man twice in the past.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Emerson will be one of the players who will be let go by Spurs this summer as the club look to rebuild the squad ahead of next season.
In fact, Fabrizio Romano even claimed last week that the 25-year-old will be one of the first players to exit Hotspur Way this summer and could be gone as early as June (GiveMeSport).
It has been widely reported over the last couple of weeks Milan are keen on signing a right-back and that the Tottenham man is on their wishlist (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness).
Meanwhile, more recently, Bayern Munich and several Saudi Arabian sides have also been named as potential contenders for the Brazilian’s signature (Tom Barclay).
AC Milan have tried to sign Emerson Royal twice
CalcioMercato have now pointed out that Milan tried twice in the past to sign Emerson – in the summer of 2020 and 2021, with Tottenham beating them to the player in the latter.
The report says that the Rossoneri are hoping that this summer proves third time lucky for them as they plot another move for the defender.
According to the outlet, the Tottenham man is on a salary of €2.2m (£1.8m) per year, which the Serie A side would be able to match, with the report adding that the Premier League side would ‘consider’ the offers that come their way for the player.

It does seem like Milan are the first club to act and have moved to pole position to sign Emerson. However, there is no doubt that the Brazilian would be of interest to quite a few sides and one would expect Stefano Pioli’s men to face a big battle for the player’s signature.
