Doughnut shop burglary under investigation

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Colonie Police Department is investigating a burglary at a doughnut shop. The co-owner of Cider Belly Donuts on Fuller Road said the suspect broke into the back door, broke the cash register, and several tools were smashed.

The shop estimates a few thousand dollars in damage was caused, but it's business as usual while police conduct their investigation.

"It happens," co-owner Jennifer Novak said. "It happens to the best of us, so you kind of just have to roll with it. Once the police were done with their investigation and took the SD cards, my brother and I got right into making doughnuts, and you know, it's just another day."

The owners thanked their employees, some of whom, came in on their day off to help with the cleanup and baking doughnuts, so they would not have to delay reopening.
