MS Dhoni to Retire or Will Thala Play IPL 2025? CSK CEO Provides UPDATE
Chennai: Once Chenni Super Kings faced the heartbreaking loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the focus was on MS Dhoni – will he retire, won’t he retire. While Dhoni kept quiet and did not make anything official, giving more space for speculations. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, who knows Dhoni well, provided an update on the matter.
Viswanathan said that “there hasn’t been any discussions” on the issue.
“There were no discussions in the dressing room about it. We have never asked him about his future and neither has he said anything about it. When he takes a decision, he will inform us, until then we will not interfere,” Viswanathan told The Indian Express. Meanwhile, it is learnt that a day after CSK failed to make it to the play-offs, Dhoni left for Ranchi and it is understood that he would be travelling overseas.
Meanwhile, there is an HT report that claims Dhoni could be considered to become India coach once Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends.
Dhoni, who has been the most successful Indian captain ever, was part of India’s T20 World Cup squad in 2021 as the mentor of the side. While it did not help India win the title, it would be interesting to see if Dhoni actually takes up the coaching job.
This IPL season, Dhoni has amassed 161 runs in 11 innings of 14 matches at a strike rate of 220.54 and an average of 53.67. The next few days would be interesting, we will surely keep a close tab on this story to see what Dhoni’s future holds in stake.
