I’m a celeb makeup artist – a blush mistake can instantly age you, my tips so mature skin looks good in natural daylight
A CELEBRITY makeup artist has revealed the little-known tricks that give mature skin a youthful look.
She explained how to correct a common blush mistake and the best products for reducing the signs of aging.
Sherrie Warwick is a UK-based makeup artist, who has worked with stars including Denise Welch and Kate Garraway.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared several tips for defying the signs of aging using makeup.
FLAWLESS FACE
Warwick said beauty advice for mature skin has changed in recent years.
“They used to say that as your skin ages, you should start changing your foundation to a cream foundation, but I actually believe using a liquid foundation is much better,” she said.
“A lot of the liquid foundations are very lightweight in consistency.
“I adopt the less is more approach as you don’t want to emphasize any lines starting to appear on the skin using a thick and heavy foundation.
“Dusting some Mac Blot powder over any areas that look a bit shiny will also give a more youthful effect.
“I love Nars Light Reflecting foundation for creating a healthy glow on older skin.”
BRUSH UP
Warwick revealed the tool used to apply makeup isn’t the biggest factor when achieving a desired look.
“There are lots of different methods available to apply foundations, ie makeup sponge, foundation brush, your fingers, each give excellent results,” she said.
“The most important part is to ensure everything is blended in well.
“For eyeshadow, blending is of utmost importance and this can really soften an eye makeup look.

“I am loving Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows at the moment as they blend so well, she also has a few cream eyeshadows which are beautiful and stay put too.”
Warwick said budget-friendly options such as No7 Stay Perfect smoothing eyeshadow and Makeup Revolution eyeshadows also look great on mature skin.
“Blushers, there are also lots of versions of blushers on the market these days, but my absolute favorites are the cream/ liquid versions,” she said.
“I find that some powder blushers can be quite drying on the skin, which can age you instantly.”
She recommended Glossier Cloud Paint, Daniel Sandler Watercolor, and Elf Luminous Putty Blush.
MAKEUP MASTERY
Warwick has countless testimonials from happy clients asking how they can recreate her looks.
She said it’s important to be mindful when deciding who to take makeup advice from when watching online tutorials.
“There are lots and lots of videos around at the moment of makeup being done on older ladies using several layers of foundation and contouring sticks,” she said.
“Please remember that these videos are perfectly blasted with light which will make any skin look fabulous.
“But, I am guiding you to make yourself up so you look good in natural daylight.”
