Louisiana man arrested for putting weights in fish for contest

TOLEDO BEND, La. (KLFY) – A Pollock man was arrested on fishing contest fraud violations in Sabine Parish.
According to the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, enforcement agents were contacted on May 17 by Big Bass Splash tournament directors at Toledo Bend about one of the participants placing lead weights in a fish he caught and used for weigh in.
On arrival, agents determined the participant placed 2.59 pounds of lead weights in a fish he used and then left the scene. Agents obtained an arrest warrant for Aaron Moreau, 38. Moreau turned himself into LDWF agents on Thursday and he was transported to the Sabine Parish Detention Center.
Fishing contest fraud brings up to a $3,000 fine and one year in jail.
