Trajan Langdon Takes Over In Detroit
The Duke great has a major new challenge with the Pistons
Trajan Langdon, who has been the GM for the New Orleans Pelicans since 2019, is moving on to Detroit, where he’ll become President of Basketball Operations.
He’s done an outstanding job with the Pelicans, helping to draft Zion Williamson, Tre Murphy, Herb Jones, Jarett Allen and Caris LeVert among others.
Detroit could use the help. The Pistons won just 14 games this past season. Detroit has young talent that has struggled: Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson, Jaden Ivy, Isaiah Stewart, James Wiseman are all athletic but it hasn’t translated into success on the court.
Langdon will have his hands full, but he has options, and that’s good. He’ll also have the fifth pick in next month’s draft and could come out of that with a solid choice.
Anybody can pick at the top of the draft. It takes real talent and skill to mine the bottom end that is the second round, so keep an eye on what Langdon and Detroit do there.
