YouTube Gold: Luka Doncic Has A Major Clutch Moment Against Minnesota
We may soon see peak Luka
As a basketball fan, you probably know that Michael Jordan went third in the 1985 draft behind Hakeem Olajuwon and Sam Bowie. Houston ended up pretty happy with Olajuwon who became a legendary player in his own right, but Portland and Bowie? What a wasted pick (aside from everything else, Jordan would have been down the street from Nike, which might have proved convenient).
A lot of people have already forgotten that Luka Doncic went third in the 2018 draft behind DeAndre Ayton and Marvin Bagley. For the record, we supported Bagley ahead of Doncic and like Phoenix and Sacramento, came to regret it.
So did Atlanta - the Hawks drafted Doncic and immediately traded him to Dallas for Trae Young and a first round pick.
They’re probably regretting it too.
Doncic has emerged as a generational talent, a guy who has even been compared to Larry Bird.
Well: not yet.
Bird won a championship in his second season and Doncic hasn’t come close to that yet.
That may change soon though.
Doncic and Dallas were down two when he hit a huge three with :03 seconds to put Minnesota away.
For all the comparisons to Bird, making big shots like that and huge clutch plays are what Bird did on the regular. Doncic isn’t there yet, but he’s getting closer.
