Man accused of shooting 1, stabbing 2 in Southeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A man is facing multiple attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting one person and stabbing two others in Southeast Portland Wednesday night, according to Portland police.

Just after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 10400 block of Southeast Clinton Street. On arrival, they found a man had been shot in the shoulder by another man, later identified by police as 29-year-old Tyler Valenzuela Price.

Authorities say Price had also slashed a neighbor in the hand and menaced another neighbor with a knife.

Officers say they quickly found Price, who tried to run from police. While running away, he reportedly stabbed another neighbor in the neck. Officers then used a taser on Price and arrested him.

The man who was shot and the neighbor who was stabbed in the neck went to the hospital and were released after treatment, authorities say. The neighbor who was slashed with the knife was able to treat the injury herself.

Since Price suffered what police believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand during the incident, officials say he was taken to a hospital and held under police guard until his release Saturday.

He was then booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree attempted murder (4 counts), second-degree assault (3 counts), unlawful use of a weapon (4 counts) and menacing (2 counts).
